This year Oliver entered one of his drawings in the school art competition. He did not win first prize, but the judges gave him a special mention for his clever use of colour. Now he dreams of becoming an illustrator one day, and he carries his sketchbook with him almost everywhere he goes.

It took almost an hour and a lot of laughing before it finally stood up straight. That evening they cooked sausages over a small fire and watched the stars, which were brighter than any they had seen in the city. During the night it rained heavily, but luckily the tent kept them dry. In the morning the air smelled fresh and clean, and they went for a long walk beside a cold mountain stream. Although the trip was not always comfortable, the whole family agreed it had been a real adventure and decided to go camping again the following summer.

My name is Tom and I am nine years old. I love Saturdays because there is no school. But on Saturday morning I never sleep late. My family always cleans the house together, and everyone has a job to do. My job is to feed our dog, Rex, and then take him for a walk in the park. I don't like washing the dishes, so my sister Kate does that. My mum cooks lunch while my dad fixes things in the garage. After lunch we go shopping. We don't go to the big shopping centre.
