For his twelfth birthday, Daniel asked his parents for a dog. At first they were not sure, because looking after a pet is a lot of work, but in the end they agreed. Instead of buying a puppy from a shop, the family decided to visit the local animal shelter and give a home to a dog that nobody wanted.
At the shelter Daniel met a brown dog with one white ear called Biscuit. The dog was three years old and very friendly, although the staff said he was a little shy with strangers. Daniel chose him at once, and the next day they took Biscuit home.
Now Daniel walks Biscuit in the park every morning before school and feeds him twice a day. The dog has become much more confident and even learned a few tricks. Daniel's parents are happy too, because having Biscuit has taught their son to be more responsible.
