Every Saturday morning a small farmers' market takes place in the main square of Tom's town. Local farmers and bakers come from the surrounding villages to sell fresh fruit, vegetables, bread and homemade cheese. The market opens at eight o'clock and closes at one in the afternoon, so people have to arrive early if they want the best products.
Tom often goes there with his grandmother, who has shopped at the market for more than twenty years. She says the food is much fresher than in the supermarket and usually cheaper too. Her favourite stall belongs to an old man called George, who sells honey from his own bees.
Last week the market was busier than usual because a band was playing live music in one corner. Tom bought a basket of strawberries and shared them with his friends. He believes the market is one of the nicest places in town, and he tries never to miss a Saturday.
