Two years ago my family moved from a quiet village to a large city, because my mother had found a new job at a hospital there. I did not want to leave, since all my friends lived in the village and I knew every street near our old house. However, my parents promised that the city would be exciting, and in the end they were right.
Our new flat was on the seventh floor of a tall building, and from my window I could see the river and hundreds of bright lights at night. At first the noise of the traffic kept me awake, but after a few weeks I got used to it. The most difficult thing was starting a new school in the middle of the year. On my first morning I felt so nervous that I could hardly eat breakfast.
Luckily, a boy called Daniel sat next to me and showed me where everything was. Although the building was huge and I got lost twice, the teachers were patient and the lessons were more interesting than at my old school. Within a month I had joined the basketball team and made several good friends. I still write letters to my friends in the village, and we meet during the holidays, but now the busy city really feels like home, and I cannot imagine living anywhere else.
