Tom is eleven years old and he lives in a small town near the sea. Every summer his family goes on holiday, but this year they are staying at home. Tom is not sad about it. He thinks his town is a great place for the summer. In the morning Tom and his little sister Lucy go to the beach. They swim, build sandcastles and look for shells. Lucy can't swim very well, so their mum always watches her. After lunch the children don't go to the beach because it is too hot. They stay at home, play board games and read books. Tom loves adventure stories. In the evening the whole family rides bikes in the park. Tom's dad usually cooks fish for dinner because everyone likes it. On Sundays they visit Tom's grandparents, who live in the next street. Tom thinks this is the best summer ever.
